To watch IPTV Pro on a Roku, install any IPTV player from the Roku Channel Store, open it and enter the M3U URL or Xtream Codes login we email you. Setup takes about two minutes and needs no jailbreak or sideloading.
Roku is the strictest of the streaming platforms about what can be installed, which is why so many IPTV guides for it end in a dead end about “private channels” and screen mirroring. None of that is necessary. You add an IPTV player from the store the same way you add anything else, then enter the login details we send you.
Roku models that work with IPTV Pro
Most IPTV players need Roku OS 10.0 or later. Every Roku sold since 2019 can run it; the limits below are about codec support and resolution rather than the app itself.
| Model | Roku OS minimum | Max resolution | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roku Ultra (4800, 4802, 4850) | 10.0 | 4K HDR / Dolby Vision | Full support, HEVC hardware decode |
| Roku Streaming Stick 4K (3820, 3821) | 10.0 | 4K HDR | Full support |
| Roku Express 4K / 4K+ (3940, 3941) | 10.0 | 4K HDR | Full support |
| Roku Express (3930, 3932) | 10.0 | 1080p | Supported. 4K streams downscale, which costs CPU |
| Roku TV (TCL, Hisense, Sharp, Philips) | 10.0 | Panel dependent | Full support |
| Roku Streaming Stick+ (3810, 3811) | 10.0 | 4K HDR | Supported. No AV1 |
| Roku Premiere (3920, 4620) | 10.0 | 4K | Supported. No HDR passthrough |
| Roku 2 / 3 / 4 (4210 and earlier) | — | — | Not supported — cannot reach Roku OS 10 |
How to set up IPTV Pro
Step 1 — Order a line or start the free trial
Tell us you are on Roku when you order. We email your login details — an M3U URL, or an Xtream Codes host, username and password — usually within minutes on a trial.
Step 2 — Add an IPTV player from the Channel Store
Press Home, go to Streaming Channels and open Search Channels. Roku permits no sideloading, so whatever the store offers is your shortlist. Any player that accepts an M3U or Xtream login will work.
Step 3 — Open the app and choose Add playlist
Every player words this differently — Add playlist, Add source, Login with Xtream. They all want the same thing.
Step 4 — Enter the details we sent you
Paste the M3U URL, or switch to the Xtream tab and enter host, username and password. Typing a long URL on a TV remote is miserable, so most players offer a pairing code you can use from your phone.
Step 5 — Press play
Channels appear as soon as the line is read, and the 7-day guide fills in behind them. Nothing else to configure — the guide is already mapped to the channels.
M3U URL or Xtream Codes — which should you use?
We give you both, and on Roku you should use Xtream Codes. An M3U is a flat text file that has to be re-downloaded and re-parsed in full whenever anything changes, and on a low-memory Roku a playlist above roughly 15,000 channels is where that starts to hurt. Xtream Codes is an API: the app asks for one category at a time, so memory use stays flat regardless of how large the provider’s list is.
| M3U URL | Xtream Codes | |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter | One long URL | Host, username, password |
| Guide data | Separate XMLTV URL | Included |
| Catch-up and VOD | Only if the file lists it | Exposed by the API |
| Large playlists | Parses the whole file | Loads per category |
| Best for | Small, simple lists | Anything over a few thousand channels |
Fixing common Roku IPTV problems
Buffering on Wi-Fi
Roku sticks sit behind the TV, which is the worst possible place for an antenna. Check the real figure under Settings → Network → About: below 25 Mbps at the device, 4K will stall regardless of what your broadband is rated at. Moving the stick to the supplied HDMI extender fixes this more often than any app setting.
Channels load but the guide is empty
The playlist and the guide are two separate feeds. An empty grid means the XMLTV URL is missing, expired, or its channel IDs do not match the IDs in your playlist. Use your player’s “match channels” option to map them by name instead. On an IPTV Pro line the guide arrives already mapped, so this is rarely needed.
“Playlist could not be parsed”
Nine times out of ten the URL returned an HTML error page rather than a playlist — usually an expired subscription or a connection limit already in use elsewhere. Open the same URL in a desktop browser: if you get a login page or an error, the line itself is the problem — send us a message and we will reissue it.
Audio plays, video is black
The stream is in a video codec this Roku cannot decode — normally HEVC on a 1080p-only model, or AV1 on anything older than the Streaming Stick 4K. Message us for the H.264 variant of that channel, or watch it on a 4K-capable Roku.
Everything stutters after about an hour
This is heat, and it is specific to the stick form factor. A Roku pressed against the back of a warm panel throttles. Use the HDMI extender so it hangs clear of the TV, and leave the stick’s status light visible so you can see when it restarts.
Questions about this device
Do I need to jailbreak my Roku to watch IPTV?
No. Roku has no jailbreak and does not allow sideloading on retail devices, and you need neither. You install an IPTV player from the Roku Channel Store and enter the details we send you.
Which Roku models work with IPTV Pro?
Any Roku on Roku OS 10.0 or later, which covers every model sold since 2019 including Roku Express, Streaming Stick, Premiere, Ultra and Roku TV sets. Roku 2, 3 and 4 cannot reach Roku OS 10.
Should I use the M3U URL or the Xtream Codes login on Roku?
Use Xtream Codes. An M3U file is parsed in full every time it loads, which strains a low-memory Roku, whereas Xtream Codes loads one category at a time and keeps memory use flat. We send you both.
Does IPTV Pro include the app as well?
No, and you do not need it to. Your subscription is a login — an M3U URL or Xtream Codes details — that works in any mainstream IPTV player from your device’s own store. Choosing and installing one is part of the setup help we give you.
What if I cannot get it working?
Message us on WhatsApp at +44 7475 498002 with the device you are on and what you are seeing. We will walk you through it until channels are playing. That help is included on the free trial as well as on paid plans.
Can I watch on this device and another at the same time?
You can install your details on as many devices as you like, but one line plays one stream at a time. For simultaneous viewing on two screens, order a second line.
